Entertaining Commercials - Isn't That an Oxymoron?

There is something to say about truly entertaining advertisements. I am a proud Tivo owner. In fact my hubby got me Tivo as a wedding gift. He told me about it in the limo from the wedding to the reception and I nearly cried with joy - oh, he knows me so well. Due to have a fabulous Tivo DVR I live most of my life watching prerecorded shows so that I have the luxury of fast forwarding through the commericials. I've even learned the trick of if Grey's starts at 8 I'll let Tivo start recording and start watching at 8:15 so I can fast forward through commercials and still be done at 9 - genius!

But lately, one set of commercials has actually caused me to STOP my fast forwarding through commerical break habits and instead ocassionally rewinding so that I can watch the commercial again. I have to give big props to the Etrade corporation. In fact, whoever works in their marketing department and came up with the Etrade baby concept should be given a gigantic raise for their creative genius. The baby commercials are just laugh out loud hilarious! I have seen them over and over again and they are STILL funny! The most recent one (posted below) from the Superbowl with the two babies and the one singing "Take these broken wings" has caused my eyes to water with laughing so hard. No matter my mood when I see one of these commercials I smile and laugh every time.

Now granted the point of an advertisement is to make you buy a product or service and I'm not an Etrade user, I still want to thank them for the laughs. So many commercials are just plain crap that the joy of the Etrade baby is a welcome change. So, Etrade baby creator wherever you are - know that you are appreciated.
